Farina Restaurante - Pizzeria

On a damp and blowy Wednesday evening, a colleague and I went into Altrincham to have an early dinner. The restaurant we had chosen was closed so we went to an alternative, which was also closed; such is the gastronamic ghost town that was Altrincham that evening.

A welcoming light shone from the Farina restaurant and we took refuge there. We were warmly welcomed, our coats were taken and we were invited to choose our table from a largely empty restaurant.

I chose from the specials board and my friend used the menu. To start, he had bruschetta and I had large mushrooms stuffed with palma ham and goats cheese. The mushrooms were delicious and there were plenty of them; halfway to a main course.

The wine list was reasonably priced. We ordered one bottle of wine, Sicilian Pino Grigiot, which was of very good quality.

For the main course my friend had chicken breast in a white wine sauce with prawns and I had lemon sole. These were served with a selection of vegetables and potatoes. All were very well cooked and presented, although I thought the potatoes could of done with a couple more minutes in the pot.

We had no room for pudding so we settled for coffee and demolished the wine. As ever, service was discrete, attentive and pleasant.

The cost was just £60.

Will we return?

Oh yes, this is one of our favourite restaurants in Altrincham.
