This restaurant is close to the crossing gates in Hale and is relatively new. It used to Marcello's restaurant, once upon a time. I have heard conflicting reports about this place and as a colleague and I had some business to conduct in the village we thought we would visit here for lunch and find out for ourselves.

The interior is tastefully decorated in a modern style. It is light and there is room to move. There were several lunchtime diners already on the premises. It is always nice when they offer to take your coat as you walk in.

We were seated and ordered a jug of iced water and a bottle of Pinot Grigio. These arrived with the menus. There is a lighter lunch menu with two or three course options or a' la carte menu to choose from.

We ate off the lunch menu, having a delicious homemade soup and Chicken liver to start. Very nice.

For the main course we had an Earle Burger, again homemade from excellent ground beef and seasoning and fish of the day fried in Tempura batter.  Simple choices, well prepared and just right for lunch.

We thought we would treat ourselves to pudding and had apple and sultana crumble with double custard and lemon cheesecake with raspberry sauce. Both were tasty, filling and delicious.

We rounded off the meal with two frothy cappuccinos.
The service was friendly and helpful. The bill was reasonable for lunch in Hale village.  

This is a nice place for a lunchtime visit.

Will we return?

Yes, there is a nice ‘feel' about the place.
